2.3.2 Oscillating mechanism. The oscillating mechanism shall move the sieve platform in an eccentric orbit and receive a minimum of two through a maximum of eight impacts during each orbit. The oscillating mechanism shall operate through the means of a hand-cranking device, or similar mechanism. The hand operation shall not exceed 10 pounds of applied force.
2.3.3 Base. The base shall be of the same material as the carriage and provide rigid support for the oscillating mechanism and the sieve support.
2.3.4 Lubrication. All surfaces requiring lubrication shall be provided with a means of performing maintenance. Access for routine maintenance shall be provided in a manner maximizing user safety and ease of repair.
2.3.5 Dimensions and weight. The shaking machine shall not exceed 30.00 inches in length, width, or height and 42 pounds in weight.
2.4 Identification marking. Each shaking machine shall have a durable data plate identifying, as a minimum, the manufacturer's name and part number. The data plate shall be located in a place where the data will be visible and legible, but not interfere with the safe operation and maintenance of the shaking machine.
3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials shall be used to the maximum extent possible provided the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. Used, rebuilt, or remanufactured components, parts, and pieces shall not be incorporated into the shaking machine.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
4.1 Product conformance. The shaking machine shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the manufacturer's own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
4.2 Market acceptability. The shaking machine offered shall be the latest model of the standard product of the supplier and shall have been used for at least one year by commercial organizations.
4.3 Examinations. Each shaking machine shall be examined for compliance with the requirements specified in 2.2 through 2.4. Any modification necessary following failure to meet the specified requirements shall receive particular attention for adequacy and suitability. This element of inspection shall encompass all examinations of the performance and dimensional requirements. Non-compliance to any specified requirement shall constitute cause for rejection.
